Kensington Museum« umbenannt, mit Errichtung des Neubaus (1899-1909) von Sir Aston Webb (* 1849, ✝ 1930) 1899 nach dem Herrscherpaar benannt. Das Museum umfasst heute neben
Kunsthandwerk der verschiedenen Epochen und
Länder die nationale Skulpturensammlung mit Werken der italienischen
Renaissance von
Donatello und
Giambologna sowie die National
Library of Art. Außerdem beherbergt das Museum mit rund 300 000 Aufnahmen bedeutender Fotografen die weltweit größte Fotosammlung. - Ein extravaganter Erweiterungsbau (so genannte »Spirale«) von D.
Libeskind ist im Entstehen (geplante Fertigstellung 2004).
